Lightning Sets Tree Ablaze In Coventry: FD
The tree was struck on Tuesday evening, according to fire officials.

COVENTRY, CT — A lightning bolt struck a local tree Tuesday evening as severe thunderstorms passed through town.
The lightning sparked a fire within the tree. The Town of Coventry Fire and EMS department posted an image late Tuesday on its Facebook page of the tree glowing red and smoking against dark surroundings.
The tree is located near the intersection of Brewster Street and Swamp Road, fire officials said. The damage was contained to the tree.

The community posted several comments on Facebook about the image, with one commenter calling it “Scary but beautiful,” and another suggesting it for an album cover.
