Man Snatches Purse Outside Plainville Store: Police

The suspect then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, according to police.

PLAINVILLE, CT — Police are searching for a man who snatched a woman’s purse Friday in the parking lot of Lowe’s on New Britain Avenue.

The theft happened at 7:45 a.m. as the customer was loading her vehicle, police said on Facebook.

A lone male suspect approached the car and stole the purse from the woman’s shopping cart, according to police. When the woman attempted to stop the theft, the man pushed her away, police said. The victim was not injured.

The man then fled in a dark gray 2008 BMW 328i with Massachusetts registration 3MPD23. The BMW was previously reported stolen from Springfield, Mass., police said.

Police described the suspect as a young, dark-skinned male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a face covering.
