Pedestrian Walking On Highway Fatally Struck By Car: State Police
An ID has been released by state police.
COLCHESTER, CT — A man who was walking along Route 354 in Colchester was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday afternoon, state police said.
A 2008 Honda Civic driven by an Oakdale resident was traveling westbound on Route 354 by the intersection with Daniel Drive.
A pedestrian, Shawn M. Schulze, 50, of Colchester, wearing dark clothing was walking in the westbound lane with no auxiliary lighting and or crosswalks and was struck by the car, state police said.

The pedestrian was thrown from the impact and landed in the right shoulder of the eastbound travel lane, state police said. Life-saving measures were initiated by first responders and the pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital, where he died.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
