A hazardous weather outlook has been issued, along with the timeline for a severe weather threat, and a look at the July 4 forecast.

CONNECTICUT — Meteorologists are warning of the potential for stormy weather today, particularly in the evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut.

“There is a marginal to slight risk of excessive rainfall capable of producing localized flash flooding, and a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong to damaging wind gusts,” according to the National Weather Service.

WFSB 3 meteorologists report there will be “oppressive” humidity on Tuesday, and it is a “First Alert Weather Day,” due to the possibility of “strong to severe storms in the evening hours.”

For most of the day, Tuesday will be cloudy, with some breaks of sunshine, and highs reaching into the upper 80s, according to WFSB.

The storms are expected to be initially isolated Tuesday afternoon, then more widespread around sunset, the station predicts. WFSB meteorologists also predict storms could bring damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.

Wednesday is expected to be dry and less humid, with highs in the upper 80s, according to WFSB. The station predicts a mix of sun and clouds for Thursday, with isolated afternoon showers in the afternoon and highs in the mid-80s.

The July 4 holiday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the mid-80s, perfect for outdoor fun and picnics, according to forecasters.
