Torrington Firefighters Rescue Unresponsive Motorist From Car Dangling Off Bridge: FD
The driver was trapped inside, according to the fire department.

TORRINGTON, CT — Firefighters on Tuesday rescued an unresponsive motorist who was trapped inside a vehicle that was hanging off a bridge.
The Torrington Fire Department Local 1567 IAFF posted about the dramatic rescue on its Facebook page.
The accident happened Tuesday around 6:41 p.m. by Wall Street and East Pearl Street.

The vehicle hit the bridge and knocked the railing off. The car then came to rest partially hanging off the bridge, which spans a branch of the Naugatuck River.
Crews secured the vehicle so it wouldn’t move during the rescue, then safely extricated the motorist so the person could get medical attention, fire officials said.

The accident is under investigation, and officials did not yet indicate what caused the motorist to hit the bridge.
