Avon HS Group Hosting Special Walk For Mental Health
The event on Thursday, June 5, will take place at Avon High School at the school's track.
AVON, CT — The local high school community is inviting the public to participate in a special walking event this week to support improved mental health awareness, especially for those in need.
Wecare, a youth-led organization dedicated to improving mental and brain health care equity in underserved communities, and the Avon High School chapter of Health Occupations Students of America have partnered to conduct a walk for mental health awareness event this week.
The event, called the "Mental Health Awareness Walk," will take place on Thursday, June 5, at 5 p.m. at Avon High School at the Avon High School track from 5 to 6.30 p.m., 510 West Avon Road, Avon.

"Join us to walk together and raise awareness for mental health issues, reduce the stigma, and build a more supportive, aware, and caring community," wrote event organizers in an announcement.
Refreshments will be provided, and there will be a speaker at the event as well.

Participants can also donate gently used clothing, hygiene products, stress-relief tools, non-perishable foods, old books/ stationery in good condition, or even a monetary donation, for those in need.
All of the donations will go towards people suffering from a mental or brain health disorder.
