It is also working with representatives from the volunteer group BikeWalk Avon, CT on an application to the League of American Bicyclists to designate Avon as a “Bicycle Friendly Community.”

As part of this process, the town is asking folks to:

• Visit a StoryMap that has been created to review the scope of the "bicycle and pedestrian master plan" effort.

Community members can, then, weigh in on the project's mission statement and answer what is being called the "monthly mobility question."

• They can then take the League of American Bicyclists’ "Bicycle Friendly Community Survey" via the link in the StoryMap.

The survey will be live until April 5.

"We expect to hear about our application status in May, during National Bike Month," wrote the town of Avon in an announcement.

There will be other opportunities to weigh in.

The first of two public meetings on the "bicycle and pedestrian master plan" effort on April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center. A second public meeting is tentatively slated for mid-June, details to come later.

People should also visit the Town of Avon’s website (www.avonct.gov) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/townofavonct) for more opportunities to provide feedback.
