Avon OKs New Building Purchase For School Offices
Voters easily said 'yes' to the multi-million project at a special town meeting Tuesday night.

AVON, CT — As expected, Avon voters easily approved an appropriation to fund the purchase of a new office building to become central offices for the town's school system.
Registered voters in Avon voted 199-30 Tuesday night at a special town meeting at Avon High School to approve a $3.187 million expenditure to purchase a building at 200 Fisher Drive, Avon.
The building would then become the new headquarters for Avon Board of Education central offices.

"The turnout was excellent as was the discussion," wrote the Town of Avon in an announcement Wednesday morning.
School officials say the current site at 34 Simsbury Road is deteriorating, with the basement unusable due to water damage.

The new location is presently an office building and purchasing and renovating the site for a school office was expected to be less expensive than renovating the current building.
School officials hope the move could be complete by the summer of 2025, with the town expected to close on the site in January 2025.
