Avon Program To Help Folks Meditate Their Way To A Positive 2025

The first Avon Free Public Library virtual mediation program of the new year is on Thursday, Jan. 9.

AVON, CT — If ever a new year has required mastering meditation to help us endure, it is 2025.

This brings us to the Avon Free Public Library's first virtual medication program of the new year, which will take place Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.

"As we enter the New Year, we have an opportunity to look back at the things we want to continue to experience and those that we don’t," wrote the library in an announcement.

For this program, Dr. Matthew Raider will talk about the healing power of meditation.

"You will learn more about this practice along with techniques to reduce stress, and bring joy, peace, positivity and relaxation into your daily routine," wrote the library.

"There will be a chance to try this out. Begin the New Year with a fresh start."

Raider graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School with honors in 1979.

He maintains a clinical practice in geriatric medicine and holds a faculty position at the University of Connecticut Medical School.

Raider has coordinated the geriatrics curriculum for the Middlesex Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program for over 30 years.

He is currently the medical director of four Connecticut healthcare facilities.
