Avon Program To Help Gardeners Prep For Winter

AVON, CT — The local library this Thursday is hosting a special program to help area gardeners prepare for the next step ... putting their gardens "to bed" for the winter.
"Putting the Garden to Bed – What’s Needed, What’s Not" will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Avon Free Public Library Community Room, 281 Country Club Road, Avon.

" We’ll discuss best management practices to keep the garden healthy and improve the soil for next season," wrote event organizers.
Sarah Bailey, a certified advanced master gardener and a Connecticut-certified horticulturalist, will host the program.

She is the Hartford County coordinator for theUConn Extension Master Gardener Program, having recently retired from the state coordinator position.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon Free Public Library.
