Avon Provides Update On Storm Recovery
As of Sunday morning, there were still 140 homes without power.

AVON, CT — The town of Avon provided the following updates regarding recovery from Tropical Storm Isaias.
Safety Reminders:
The safety of our residents is our utmost priority. We want to remind residents to please respect road closure signs. They are posted for your safety so you do not encounter any downed trees and/or power lines which could potentially be dangerous. Please remember to keep a safe distance from any power lines that have fallen due to the storm. Any intersection that is controlled by a traffic signal that is not working is to be treated as an all-way stop and motorists and cyclists should proceed with caution.

The charging station will be located in front of the main entrance to the Police Department under a pop-up tent. Residents accessing the charging station are required to wear a mask and follow social distancing. We would ask that residents do not congregate around the charging station and instead wait in their vehicles for their device to charge, if possible. The exterior of the building is surveilled by security cameras. Please be considerate of others while using the charging station and limit the number of devices that you charge simultaneously. The Town is not responsible for any damage to devices caused by the use of the charging station or for any lost or stolen devices. Use at your own risk.
A charging station will be available near the front door to the Library (281 Country Club Road) during the Library’s regular hours. The Library’s schedule can be found on their website. The Library is also offering Wi-Fi to Avon residents who park in the front row of parking spaces (those closest to the building). Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
Additionally, West Farms Mall is open and encourages those who need to charge devices, need cooling, or are looking for meals to come to the mall. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask.
Non-Potable Water Access Point:
The non-potable water access point will be located outside the Police Department (60 West Main Street, Building #3) beginning Friday August 7th and will be available from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily until further notice. This water is NOT suitable for drinking.
The access point is a garden hose with a spray nozzle located directly to the right of the front entrance to the police department. Residents should bring their own containers to fill with water. Residents using the access point are required to wear a mask and follow social distancing. We ask that residents do not congregate around the access point. The Town does not guarantee the quality of the water and we are not sanitizing the access point between users. Use at your own risk. Please bring your own hand sanitizer to use before touching the access point. A reminder that the exterior of the building is surveilled by security cameras.
