Avon Road Still Closed After Pole, Wires Come Down

The incident occurred early Monday evening as the area dealt with Monday's serious rain/wind storm.

AVON, CT — A busy Avon roadway remains closed early Tuesday morning following Monday's storm, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The DOT reports that Route 10 is closed between Simsbury Road and Waterville Road after an early evening incident where a utility pole and wires were taken down.

This was first reported at 4:51 p.m. Monday and, as of Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., it was still "unknown" when the roadway would reopen.
