Avon Teachers Benefit From Foundation Funds
The Avon Education Foundation recently announced the spring 2024 grant recipients, which aid multiple school initiatives.

AVON, CT — A local educational nonprofit recently announced several grant recipients who will receive undisclosed funds to enhance education in town.
The Avon Education Foundation doled out funding to three local teachers in the Avon school system during the spring period.

• Thompson Brook School sixth-grade teacher Karl Mordhorst received a grant for his proposal, “Salmon in the Classroom.”
Grant funds will be used to supplement the science department program of raising salmon eggs in a classroom tank and releasing them in the spring.

• Avon Middle School Technology Education teacher Daniel Ten Eyck will use his grant, ”Collaborating, Securing, and Storing Robotics,” to further enhance a classroom for the new robotics class at the middle school.
• Ten Eyck, also, received a grant for his classes at Avon High School.
His grant, “Battlebot Safety” will be used to build a small-scale arena using safety acrylic.
• Avon High School Technology and Education Teacher Matthew Dadona will utilize grant funds for his project, “CNC Mill Support.”
The equipment purchased will support the existing CNC Mill at the school and enhance classes by modeling a true manufacturing environment.
