Avon's America 250 Logo Revealed

The Avon Historical Society recently announced the winner in its logo contest for the town's America 250 events.

AVON, CT — This year and next, Avon — like just about every town in the country — is planning myriad events to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America.

Recently, the Avon Historical Society announced that the local effort now has an official logo, with a winning logo designer named.

Avon’s America 250 project, late last week, announced that Avon resident Shane Leighton was the winner of the logo contest that was unveiled in the spring.

Residents are being asked to watch for notices of several upcoming America 250 events this summer, notices that will have Leighton's logo on them.

On July 4, 2026, the nation will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Founding Fathers' signing of the Declaration of Independence.

For winning the contest, Leighton won a gift certificate to the Seasons Restaurant & Tap Room at the Avon Old Farms Hotel.

Folks who shop at Big Y World Class Market on Route 44 in Avon can purchase one or more green and blue community shopping bags in July to support Avon’s America 250 events.
