• Avon Prep School Comes Through For Hartford-Based Nonprofit (patch.com) — Avon Old Farms students rallied around their Winged Wishes campaign this December, raising nearly $60,000 to support Hartford families through Hands On Hartford. The Avon prep school community surpassed its goal with creative fundraisers, then helped shop for toys and directed extra funds to year-round programs like a backpack initiative and next year’s drive, extending the impact well beyond the holidays.
   

• Obituaries - December 24, 2025 (salina311.com) — Longtime Avon native Barbara “Barb” Ann (Jensen) Nelson, born in town in 1937 and raised here before moving to Kansas, has passed away at age 88. Her family remembers a devoted homemaker, church volunteer, prolific baker, and avid bowler and card player whose legendary pies and Christmas treats brightened gatherings across the years.
