Big Avon Road Drainage Project Nearly Done, Still Some Traffic Impacts

Work on the roadway storm drain and wastewater management project started in January.

Town of Avon

AVON, CT — A major drainage project in Avon is nearly complete, though it will be several weeks before all traffic impacts will cease, according to town officials recently.

The town has contracted with T&A Construction to install storm drainage pipes and structures to manage stormwater from Deepwood Drive to the western end of New Road.

According to a recent town announcement, the contractor was able to complete much of the work in the roadway in support of the project.

As a result, it was able to open New Road to one-lane through traffic last Friday, April 18.

But, officials said, the road is not currently paved and there remains additional work in the roadway.

"So although traffic can use the road, motorists are urged to use caution, be patient, and avoid the area if possible," wrote the town.

Paving the disturbed area of New Road will likely not happen until mid-May, once the contractor has completed the off-road work.
