Woman Killed In Avon Crash Identified: UPDATE

Avon police Wednesday said the woman killed in Tuesday morning's accident was a 48-year-old Barkhamsted woman.

AVON, CT — Local police Wednesday afternoon released the identity of the woman killed in a fatal crash Tuesday morning on Route 10.

According to the Avon Police Department, the woman has been identified as Jill Ayers, 48, of Barkhamsted.

The APD said the crash was shortly before 5:16 a.m. Tuesday when officers were called to the area of Waterville Road (Route 10) and Reverknolls for the three-vehicle accident.

According to the APD, the operator of a Chevrolet Tahoe and the vehicle's sole occupant, identified as Ayers, was traveling south on Route 10 when it collided with two other vehicles.

Police said life-saving measures were performed on the scene for Ayers but were unsuccessful.

The two other vehicles involved the crash were both traveling north on Route 10.

The operator and sole occupant of a Chevrolet Malibu was evaluated on scene and declined treatment.

Meanwhile, police said, the operator and sole occupant of a Toyota Venza was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both operators have been cooperative with investigators and all three vehicles sustained disabling damage, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Police said the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction team responded and are currently investigating.
