The council voted unanimously July 27 to accept his resignation with regrets.
Appointed to fill out the rest of his term this year was Democrat Erin Barthel, who said she was honored to sit on the council, adding she would give local and colleagues her very best efforts in governing the town.
Indomenico, who served the town in multiple capacities over the years, said in his resignation letter that he simply couldn't serve the town the way he has in the past.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed serving Avon, both the board of education and the town council. They were terrific experiences and allowed me to meet and work with great people all while making some difference to our town," Indomenico said in a statement read at the July 27 Avon Town Council meeting.
"Please know I do not take this resignation lightly. I served for absolutely as long as I could and I would continue to do so if I felt I could still provide the people of Avon the level of representation that they deserve. I’m also grateful that we found someone ready, willing, and able to take on those responsibilities going forward."
Avon Town Council Chairman Dan Polhamus said Indomenico was first elected to the Avon Board of Education prior to his council stint.
He said he was known for his "calm, cool, very thoughtful demeanor and took that forward here with the town council."
"His thoughts were always appreciated here. His connections run deep. We will greatly miss him and hugely appreciate his volunteerism in the town," said Polhamus.
