The town recently announced that on the third Tuesday of the month, Avon Town Hall — 60 W. Main St., Avon — will host free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings. They will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the next screening clinic slated for Tuesday, March 18. Blood pressure and blood sugar levels are warning signs for such medical conditions as diabetes and heart disease. Those readings are seen as a key health indicator for future problems, especially as people get older.
