Input Sought On Massive Avon Roadway Project
Another public forum on the Avon Old Farms Road reconfiguration project's second phase is slated for Monday, June 10.

AVON, CT — The town is, again, seeking input from the public as it embarks on the second phase of a massive roadway reconfiguration project designed to ease traffic and enhance safety.
Avon officials are hosting a special forum on the latest designs for the Old Farms Road Reconstruction Phase II component on Monday, June 10, at 6 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center's Community Room, 635 West Avon Road.
"The town wants feedback on design concepts that have been developed based on feedback from the prior public meeting," wrote the town in an announcement, referencing a similar forum earlier this year on the proposal.

Voters on Dec. 14, 2022, approved a $5.5 million appropriation for the first phase of the Old Farms Road reconfiguration project, which will widen and shift portions of the heavily traveled roadway and, presumably, improve safety and cut down on accidents.
Work on that phase has already begun and it is hoped this phase will be done by December 2025.
Meanwhile, Phase II — also dubbed the "East/West Section" — is in the planning stages and would require an additional, voter-approved appropriation.
The second phase of this project involves additional Old Farms Road re-alignments and replacing two bridges to widen lanes and improve safety.
No price tag has been finalized for Phase II.
Anyone with questions on the program is asked to contact the Town of Avon Engineering Department at 860-409-4322.
