Learn To Meditate At Avon Library Virtual Forum Thursday

The virtual event will feature a renowned physician who has become an expert on the benefits of meditation.

AVON, CT — Given the state of affairs nationally, many of us could probably use a little bit of peace and serenity.

On Thursday, the Avon Free Public Library is presenting a virtual event called "Meditation for Health and Wellness." It will take place at 7 p.m.

Participants will be able to join Dr. Matthew Raider for a "fascinating workshop," wrote the library.

Raider is a geriatrics physician with over 40 years of meditation experience, exploring and demonstrating the latest discoveries into the preventive, healing, and pain-relieving effects of meditation.

"He will teach a simple, yet effective meditation technique. As a result of incorporating meditation into our lives many other health benefits are derived," wrote the library.

"The program will include a meditation sitting and questions and answers."

Raider received his M.D. degree with honors from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1979.
