The massive roadway overhaul is expected to be complete sometime next week, officials said.
Town of Avon
AVON, CT — An ongoing road reconstruction and drainage project in town appears to be on schedule, according to town officials this week.
The Town of Avon said all of the piping and structures, curbing, restoration, and first course of pavement for the New Road storm drainage project have been completed.

"The only remaining items for the project are paving of the second course of pavement and planting of a few trees," wrote the town in an announcement.
The remaining paving would have been completed by now, but the contractor's equipment required repair, and they are awaiting parts, officials said.

The contractor expects the parts to arrive this week and plans to complete the paving at some point between Monday, July 21, and Friday, July 25.
Because the roadway is so narrow, traffic in the area will be impacted during the paving work, which is expected to take no more than six hours in total to complete.
Motorists are urged to use caution and be mindful of the safety of the workers in this area.
Tree planting work will be performed in the late summer and is expected to have minimal impact on traffic.
Residents with questions are asked to contact the Avon Engineering Department at 860-409-4322.
