Major Avon Road Project To Wind Down At Month's End

Motorists are being urged to be patient until the project finishes later this month.

AVON, CT — A major road project in Avon continues to move along, with the final paving job expected to start at the end of the month.

The Town of Avon issued new information Tuesday morning about the road reconstruction project at the intersection of Old Farms and Thompson roads.

According to the town, the project features an alternating traffic pattern and is being done within normal construction working hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

"While the intersection is not closed to through traffic, delays are likely to occur as the contractor removes old pavement and base materials and installs the new base materials in preparation for pavement," wrote the town.

As a result, motorists are cautioned to navigate the area slowly and carefully for their safety and the safety of the construction workers.

Avon officials said the final paving work is expected to take two days during the week of May 26, depending on the weather.
