Major Storm Drain Project To Impact Traffic In Avon

The massive construction project is expected to take two or three months to complete and it will start later this month or early next month.

AVON, CT — Residents in one Avon neighborhood will soon see a lot of construction on their roadways as new drainage pipes and storm drains will be installed there.

The town has contracted with T&A Construction to install storm drainage pipes and structures to manage stormwater from Deepwood Drive to the western end of 197 New Road.

The weather-dependent work is expected to begin "within the next week or two" and is expected to take 2 to 3 months to complete.

Motorists and residents are alerted to the project which will cause traffic delays during deliveries of materials and equipment as the contractor installs the drainage system off the roadway.

The work that is required within New Road is expected to take 3 to 4 days and will likely require daytime road closures.

If road closures are required, the town will post the closure information in advance via the town website as well as by warning signs.
