Police said the convoy will proceed along several local roadways: Town Farm Road; Tillotson Road; Old Farms Road; Waterville Road (Route 10); Route 44; and then Nod Road into Simsbury.
The APD said this could result in 30-minute delays as the procession passes through.
• Later in the day, the "Dream Cruise" featuring 200 classic cars traveling with Special Olympics athletes with special needs will depart Farmington at 4:15 p.m.
That convoy will be in Avon shortly thereafter on Town Farm Road/Tillotson Road; Old Farms Road; Thompson Road; West Avon Road (Route 167) and on into Simsbury.
Then, the car convoy will return to Avon via Nod Road, continuing south on Waterville Road (Route 10) and then turn back onto Old Farms Road and Tillotson Road en route to the Farmington Polot Club.
Police said this event will cause traffic delays of 60-90 minuts, especially on West Main Street (Route 44) at its intersection with Old Farms and Tillotson roads.
The APD urged motorists to plan and be patient.
"We encourage everyone to plan ahead to avoid traffic and thank everyone in advance for their support and understanding of this great event, which helps support our local Special Olympics athletes," wrote the Avon PD.
