Massive Motorcycle, Car Cruises To Impact Avon Saturday: Police
A large charity motorcycle run and car cruise out of Farmington on Saturday will also travel through Avon, causing some traffic delays.

AVON, CT — Motorists can expect some delays while traveling in Avon on Saturday, as local roadways will be clogged with motorcycles and classic cars — all for a good cause.
Since 2001, the Cheshire-based Hometown Foundation has held the Dream Ride Experience as a way to raise awareness and funds for individuals with intellectual disabilities, among other causes.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, the Dream Ride Experience will feature two events that will be entering Avon at separate times, Avon police said.
The Dream Ride, which starts at the Farmington Polo Club in Farmington, will feature a procession of nearly 500 motorcycles set to travel nearly 20 miles through the Farmington Valley.

It will depart Farmington at approximately 11 a.m.
When it reaches Avon, the convoy will travel north on Town Farm Road/Tillotson Road and turn right onto Old Farms Road then left onto Waterville Road (Route 10).
It will continue north, through Route 44, onto Nod Road, and into Simsbury.
There will be traffic delays of approximately 30 minutes along the route.
Next up is the "Dream Cruise," which will feature more than 200 cars traveling with Special Olympic Athletes.
This will be departing the Farmington Polo Club at approximately 4:15 p.m.
When it reaches Avon, the convoy will travel north on Town Farm Road/Tillotson Road and turn left onto Old Farms Road, continuing onto Thompson Road, turning right onto West Avon Road (Route 167), and continue into Simsbury.
The Dream Cruise will return to Avon via Nod Road, and continue south onto Waterville Road (Route 10), and turn right onto Old Farms Road and Left onto Tillotson Road.
Police said there will be intermittent traffic delays for approximately 60-90 minutes, most notably in the area of West Main Street (Route 44) as well as the intersection of Old Farms Road and Tillotson.

their support and understanding of this great event, which helps support our local Special
Olympic Athletes," wrote the Avon Police Department.
