Avon, according to police, will be impacted.

"On Aug. 26-27, the Dream Ride Experience will be making its way through Avon and surrounding towns," wrote the Town of Avon. "There will be traffic post along the route with Avon Police and Avon Fire Police to assist with traffic flow."

The motorcycle/car ride impacts in Avon will be:

• On Saturday Aug. 26, an classic automobile cruise will kick off in Farmington at approximately 4 p.m. and is expected to conclude by 6 p.m.

The ride will follow Tillotson Road to Old Farms Road and then turn on to Thompson Road.

It will continue on to West Avon Road and travel north into Simsbury.

The returning leg will enter Avon from Simsbury on Route 10/Simsbury Road and cross over to Old Farms Road making its way back to Tillotson Road.

• On Sunday, Aug. 27, a longer motorcycle cruise will kick off in Farmington at approximately 11 a.m.

The ride will travel down Tillotson Road and make its way on to Old Farms Road.

It will follow Old Farms Road, cross over to Route 10/Simsbury Road and continue on through Simsbury and surrounding towns.

"There is expected to be over 1,800 motorcycles participating in the ride," wrote town officials.

While the cause is special and the sight of that many motorcycles parading through town awe-inspiring, motorists need to be aware, according to Avon officials.

In short, they said, be patient.

"If you plan on traveling through these areas during the event, we ask for your patience and support so we can get the riders through safely," wrote the town. "The Dream Ride Experience is a community event that celebrates the achievements of our Special Olympic athletes and has raised over $3,470,000 to help the athletes achieve their goals."
