AVON, CT — The Avon Land Trust is charged with preserving the town's rural character by purchasing and maintaining acres of open space in town.

And in doing so — something the trust has been good at since 1973 — the fine folks with the trust are able to not only provide folks with myriad passive recreation opportunities, but help out wildlife too by preserving habitats.

That was evident in recent video footage the trust posted last week.

A single trail camera at one of the trust's sites showed not one, not two, not three, but six coyotes passing the same spot over two separate occasions.

One piece of footage showed four coyotes passing by on Dec. 5 at about 1:48 a.m., with the second piece of footage showing two going through the same spot at 7:5 p.m. Dec. 7.

With a light coating of snow on the ground, the footage showed the footprints and the general track these creatures make.
