Town Of Avon: Avon Village Center Project Update

Avon, CT - July 20, 2021 -  Many items are being finished up at this time for the first phase of the Avon Village Center including the last two buildings on the west side of Climax Road and required landscaping. Typically, planting at this time of year would be difficult to do and is not usually advisable however, due to the wet weather, the new plantings are doing well. The Boulder Garden has been installed next to the bike trail directly behind the Town Offices. This noticeable feature is a very nice place to stop, rest and hydrate before continuing along the trail. Also in this area are public restrooms which are nearly completed. We will alert the public when these facilities are available for use. The first tenant on Market Street is now open for business! Market Street is easily accessible via the roundabout which connects Climax  Road and Bickford Drive. A ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned for this new business as it is the first tenant to open in the Village Center. The Town asks drivers to approach the new roundabout with caution. This is the Town’s first roundabout and we want to ensure that motorists obey all the traffic signs and proceed around the roundabout by moving to the right. The roundabout is designed to ensure that all vehicles travel at a safe rate of speed. The entire area is meant to be enjoyed by pedestrians, as well as drivers and bicyclists navigating with caution.
