Two Benefit Plant Sales Slated In Avon

Both events, which will raise money for nonprofits, will take place on Saturday, May 18.

AVON, CT — With planting season completely in full swing, there are two chances in Avon this Saturday to purchase plants and help local causes.

The Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon, is hosting its perennial plant saleon Saturday, May 18.

It will feature a variety of plants from members’ gardens will be offered.

Past offerings have included astilbe, baby’s breath, bleeding heart, bearded iris, dwarf iris, red spirea, hosta, cranesbill, coral bells, and much more.

In addition, the event will include knowledgeable gardeners to answer questions concerning plant selection.

• Meanwhile, the Connecticut Daylily Society is hosting its annual "huge" daylily and plant sale Saturday, May 18, from 19 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will take place at at the Avon Senior Center/Sycamore Hills Park, 635 West Avon Rd, Avon.

Plants can be purchases via cash/check/Venmo.

"Come early for the best selection. Big, small, ruffled, spidery, doubles, eyed, patterned—we have it all," wrote the society in an announcement.
