Unique Avon Event To Mix Hiking And Meditation

Called 'Forest Bathing,' a local wellness expert will take participants on a guided nature walk on Saturday with a different approach.

AVON, CT — Many of us enjoy a quiet walk in the woods to calm our nerves and still get our steps in.

But a special event in Avon Saturday will take that concept to levels most are probably not aware of.

It's called "Forest Bathing" and it is a unique approach to traditional hiking, in which participants will enjoy a "guided, meditative and sensory nature walk through the woods.

The program — called the "Forest Bathing Ramble" — will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Nod Way Trail Head, which is located near 146 Nod Way.

The forum, sponsored by the Avon Land Trust and Bike Walk Avon, will be led by Alexandra Lowry, who is a local wellness coach.

Her program will emphasize "the amazing healing power of shinrin-yoku, also known as forest bathing,' reads a program announcement.
