Woman, 2 Dogs Flee Burning Home In Avon: FD
Battling the blaze Saturday night were units from Avon, Canton, Farmington, and UConn.

AVON, CT — Local responders are breathing a sigh of relief after the Thanksgiving weekend, as a woman and her two dogs were able to escape a serious fire in Avon Saturday night.
According to the Avon Police Department, at about 8:39 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, the APD and Avon Volunteer Fire Department were called to 6 Francis St. for a report of a structure fire there.
"Upon arrival, all occupants of the residence, to include a 58-year-old female resident and two dogs, were already safely out of the house," wrote the APD in a release over the weekend.

Police said the AVFD was able to quickly contain the fire, "however, the cause is still unknown."
AMR Ambulance Service responded to the scene as a precaution as there were no reported injuries.

AVFD officials credited the work of local responders and those from neighboring, mutual aid units: Tunxis Hose Company No. 1 (Farmington), UConn Fire Department, Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, and Canton, CT Fire and EMS Department, as well as Avon Police Department and American Medical Response.
