BERLIN, CT — A Berlin-based business this season has organized a donation drive to help an area organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence.

American Embroidery, a locally owned custom apparel business at 372 Main St., Berlin, has transformed its storefront window into a hand-painted holiday tradition.

This year’s design features whimsical woodland creatures dressed in custom apparel—each piece “branded” with logos from local businesses who sponsored the display to support a vital cause.

In an effort to uplift individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, American Embroidery invited community businesses to donate in exchange for having their logo included in the artwork.

All proceeds were dedicated to the Prudence Crandall Center in New Britain, which provides shelter, support, and safety to those displaced by domestic violence during the holidays and throughout the year.

"Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of local sponsors, a total of $1,800 was raised," wrote the company in an announcement.

The funds will be formally presented to the Prudence Crandall Center during a brief ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at American Embroidery.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the community’s support,” said Lisa Mariano, owner of American Embroidery. “What started as a fun way to celebrate the holidays has grown into a way we can give back and help bring comfort to those who need it most.”

The presentation is open to participating businesses and community members who wish to attend and "share in the celebration of collective generosity," wrote the company.
