BERLIN, CT — The polls have closed in Berlin and the votes are being counted to determine numerous key races for mayor, town council and board of education.

The biggest race of the night featured Democrat JoAnn Angelico-Stetson taking on Republican incumbent Mayor Mark H. Kaczynski.

The following is Berlin's 2023 election ballot and results (when available):

Berlin Mayor (vote for one)

Democrat: JoAnn Angelico-Stetson

Republican: Mark H. Kaczynski (inc.)

UPDATE: The Connecticut Secretary of the State's office's unofficial results show Kaczynski winning with 64 percent of the vote.

Democratic candidates are: Mark M. Pruzin, Peter A. Rosso and Kate Gillespie Atkinson.

Republican candidates are: Charles Paonessa, Donna Veach and Sandra Coppola.

Board of Finance (vote for three)

Democratic candidates are: Denise McNair and Raul M. Fernandes.

Republican candidates are: Timothy Grady.

Board of Assessment Appeals (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Stuart Topliff.

Republican candidates are: Paul C. Argazzi.

Police Commission (vote for three)

Democratic candidates are: Ryan Zelek.

Republican candidates are: Steven Wilson and David P. Rogan.

Board of Education (vote for three )

Note: Berlin's school board race is a non-partisan contest and political parties are not on the ballot.

Candidates are: Jessica L. Patraw, Brian Delude, Kari Sassu, Gina R. Nappi and Jennifer Jurgen.
