Berlin Group Hosting Unique Fundraiser To Help Town's Animal Shelter
'Grassroots Berlin' is hosting 'Blind Date With a Book' at a local brewery, where folks buy wrapped books to benefit the town's dog shelter.
BERLIN, CT — A Berlin activist organization is hosting a unique event to raise money for the town's animal control department.
This Friday, Dec. 5, Grassroots Berlin is hosting "Blind Date with A Book," a fundraiser for the Friends of Berlin Animal Control organization.
The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 5, atColes Road Brewing, 317 Farmington Ave., Berlin, from 2 to 6 p.m.

There, the program will have several gently used books wrapped in holiday wrapping paper.
The so-called "Mystery Books" are then purchased, and the proceeds will go toward the Friends of Berlin Animal Control, which supplements the town's animal control department and helps animals in its care.

"Join us for a beer and select from a variety of holiday-wrapped mystery books for both adults and children," wrote Grassroots Berlin.
All books are gently used, with genres noted on each book.
If someone doesn't choose to purchase a book, donations will be "warmly accepted and appreciated."
The Friends of Berlin Animal Control (FOBAC) was founded in 1999, primarily to assist the town of Berlin's municipal animal shelter and its homeless animals, which assists with spaying/neutering, medical care, and adoption events.
With FOBAC's support, the shelter exceeded a 90 percent save rate for dogs and cats in 2024 and was recognized as a no-kill shelter by the Best Friends Animal Society.
Grassroots Berlin is a bipartisan organization of community members seeking meaningful change to advance the quality of life for all town residents.
