Berlin Historical Society's Famous Cakes A Massive Hit

BERLIN, CT — The Berlin Historical Society's recent Holiday Fair was so successful it quickly ran out of the coveted "Swedish Visiting Cakes" that are, wait for it, "legendary."

As a result, the society this week actually posted the recipe for folks to make the cakes themselves if they went away disappointed at the Holiday Fair Dec. 5-6.

"Our confections have become legendary, and popular items sell almost immediately. With all we do, we can’t keep up with demand," wrote the Berlin Historical Society.

"The Swedish Visiting cake is something our guests ask for at our holiday fair. It’s from a recipe published in Yankee Magazine years ago, and it’s so simple to make."

The society put up the recipe on its Facebook page, but next year, folks are still encouraged to purchase cakes at the 2026 Holiday Fair.
