Downed Trees/Wires Close Road And Shut Off Power In Berlin: Police

Friday's cold and windy weather appears to have played havoc in Berlin.

BERLIN, CT — Friday's nasty wind that is turning the day's cold from annoying to dangerous has now, also, claimed a road in Berlin.

The Berlin Police Department reports that, as of 1:45 p.m., Mooreland Road is closed at Woodland Lane for poles, wires and trees that are down. The incident has also knocked out power to some in town.

A windy weather forecast appears to be coming to fruition, causing headaches for motorist, especially in Berlin.

Police said crews from Eversource Energy are "evaluating the situation."

There is no estimate for when the road will be reopened or for any restoration of power caused by the incident.
