September An Important Month At Berlin Library
The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is hosting Library Card Sign-Up Month all month long, with folks urged to renew and/or get their cards.
BERLIN, CT — September in Berlin always means the Berlin Fair (which this year is Sept. 11-14), but the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is also making it about renewing and/or getting new library cards.
That's why the library is using the month of September to recognize "Library Card Sign-Up Month."
"This is the perfect time to celebrate all that your library offers and to remind everyone just how valuable a library card can be," wrote Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Director Carrie Tyszka.

According to Tysczka, library access is more than just providing a gateway to borrow books.
"Your Berlin-Peck library card gives you free online access to resources like Consumer Reports, major newspapers like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, and even items from our Library of Things," she wrote.

Peck's "Library of Things" includes access to myriad items such as outdoor movie projectors, metal detectors, board games, and more.
Plus, library card holders enjoy free or discounted museum passes and countless other services.
For September, Berlin residents who sign up for a new card or renew their existing one in September will be entered into a raffle drawing.
Adults will be eligible to win a $50 gift card to Stop & Shop, and children/teens can win a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble.
Those who already have active cards can refer friends or family to sign up, and both receive an entry for the raffle.
"A quick reminder — Berlin library accounts automatically expire every five years, no matter how often you use them," wrote Tysczka.
"Renewing your card lets us update your contact info, helps us assess our impact on the community, and plays a role in how we receive funding. Not sure if your card is current? Give us a call or stop by to check."
