• Verizon says ‘unreliable or non-existent service' is at stake in latest Brookfield cell tower battle (newstimes.com) — A proposed 175-foot Verizon cell tower in Brookfield has sparked strong local opposition, with residents worried about environmental and property value impacts. Verizon argues the site is needed to fix major service gaps, noting it currently serves Brookfield from towers in town and nearby communities including Bethel, Danbury, and Newtown, with a state hearing coming before a May 22 decision.
   

• LEGO plans to close offices in Enfield, open warehouse in Windsor Locks in 2026 (newstimes.com) — Duracell plans to move its research-and-development headquarters from Bethel to Atlanta, though the company expects to keep operating in Bethel until next year. That change comes as LEGO closes its long-time Enfield offices, opens a Windsor Locks warehouse, and expands operations in Boston, Arizona, and Virginia, underscoring broader corporate shifts affecting Connecticut’s economy.
   

• CT education leaders unveil new initiative to help students earn college credit, explore careers (newstimes.com) — Bethel Public Schools superintendent Christine Carver is helping shape a new statewide initiative that aims to let Connecticut students earn college credit in high school and explore careers through internships and dual-enrollment classes. The partnership between school superintendents and Miguel Cardona’s consulting firm would need legislative support and is still being designed, but could eventually expand hands-on, career-connected learning options across districts.
