After-Fire Cleanup, Repairs Done: Branford Transfer Station Has Reopened

The early morning fire at the Transfer Station Nov. 30 shuttered the facility for days, but after "working diligently," it has reopened.

BRANFORD, CT — The Transfer Station has reopened.

"The Transfer Station has been reopened to the residents. The facility will reopen to commercial users on Monday, December 8, 2025.
As we navigate the aftermath of the recent fire, we want to thank our amazing community for
your support and ask for everyone’s continued patience when using the facility as we continue to work through the recovery process."

It was just before 1 a.m., Nov. 30, when the Branford Fire Department responded to the Town Transfer Station, 747 East Main St., for a reported building fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the recycling shed adjacent to the scale house fully involved and extending into that building. Crews rapidly got water on the exposed building, preventing further damage before fully extinguishing the main fire.

It's taken several days to reopen the facility after repairs and cleanup, but Friday morning the town announced it had reopened.
