UPDATE: After Fire, Transfer Station Remains Closed As Repairs, Cleanup Underway
Despite working diligently to reopen as quickly, safely as possible," repairs, cleanup isn't complete, so Transfer Station remains closed.

BRANFORD, CT — Update, Dec. 3:
In a community message, the Town shared that the facility will not open Thursday, as was noted by officials Tuesday:
Due to the recent fire at the Transfer Station the facility will remain closed to the public on
Thursday, December 4, 2025 while clean up continues and a temporary office trailer is installed. Tuesday's message from the town indicated the facility would be open Thursday.
"It is now anticipated to reopen to the public on Friday, December 5, 2025. We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience."
There will be no interruption to curbside garbage and recycling collections.

The Nov. 30 transfer station fire shuttered the facility, and it will remain closed until Thursday, or at least that's "anticipated," the town shared in a community message.
"Due to the recent fire at the Transfer Station ...and related clean up and repairs necessary to reopen, the facility will remain closed to the public on Wednesday." it was noted. "It is now anticipated to reopen to the public on Thursday..."

According to the town, "employees and outside contractors continue to work diligently to reopen
as quickly and safely as possible."
It was noted that there will be "no interruption to curbside garbage and recycling collections."
It was around 1 a.m. Sunday when Branford Fire responded to the Town Transfer Station located at 747 East Main St. for a reported building fire. Upon arrival, crews found the recycling shed adjacent to the scale house fully involved and extending into that building, officials said. Firefighters quickly doused the building preventing further damage before fully extinguishing the main fire, fire officials said.
