Blaize Levitan Named Branford Public Schools' Chief Operating Officer

Currently, Levitan serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Greenwich Public Schools. He begins work in April.

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Board of Education Thursday announced the appointment of Blaize Levitan as the next Chief Operating Officer for the Branford Public Schools. Blaize brings with him over a decade of experience in project and financial management from education and town agencies, according to the Board.

Currently, Levitan serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Greenwich Public Schools, a position he has held since 2022. Prior experience includes Assistant Director of the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department, Senior Management Analyst for the Town of Greenwich, and Emergency Management Specialist for the University of Connecticut.

Levitan has proven his strength in systems thinking and organizational improvement throughout his career. With an expertise in capital planning, Levitan will be an asset to the district in working
to develop a master facilities plan and bring to life the recently adopted Strategic Coherence Plan. His collaborative nature and understanding of project management and operational efficiency will continue to move the district in a positive direction. Levitan is described by colleagues as an innovative, reliable and relationship-oriented leader who can shepard positive change for his community.

Levitan holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Public
Administration from University of Connecticut where he also obtained a graduate certificate in public financial management.

“Levitan will be an amazing addition to our leadership team and a tremendous asset to the Town of Branford," schools Superintendent Christopher Tranberg said. "Levitan is not only a big picture thinker, he also sees the steps necessary to support and improve organizational coherence and effectiveness. It is clear he does this by building strong teams, approaching his work with positivity, and remembering that students are at the center of our work."

Levitan begins work toward the end of April, Tranberg said.
