Branford Homeowner, Pets Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Fire

The male homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation; pets were removed unconscious and revived with Pet O2.

BRANFORD, CT — On Friday afternoon the Branford Fire Department responded to a working fire at 62 Orchard Hill Road. The male homeowner was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

The fire was quickly knocked down with firefighters locating a dog and cat rendered unconscious by the thick smoke. The pets were removed unconscious and revived with Pet O2 masks provided by Canine Company.

The animals were brought to Mill Pond Veterinary Hospital in Branford for treatment. The home is uninhabitable. Branford Counseling Center assisted with locating temporary housing for the three residents. No firefighters were injured and the cause is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
