Branford Man Charged In Connection With 2024 Fatal Car Vs. Motorcycle

BRANFORD, CT — On the evening of Aug. 15, 2024, a car versus motorcycle crash on East Main Street claimed the life of the motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Northford man.

Last week, police charged a 34-year-old Branford man with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection with that fatal crash.

Sinan Kaya was also charged with myriad traffic violations including improper turns, following too closely and no turn signal.

As Branford police said at the time, the initial investigation found that the motorcycle was traveling west on East Main when it collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction that turned in front of them.

The Northford man was taken to the hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries. The other driver, Kaya, remained on the scene, was cooperative with investigators, police said.

According to court records, Kaya posted seven percent in cash of a $25,000 bail and was released from custody. he's due in court May 12.
