Branford May Install Audible Crosswalk Signal at Montowese/Main

Commissioners said part of their reasoning is that a blind person lives near the area and a sound signal would assist him.

BRANFORD, CT - The town of Branford may soon have its first audible traffic signal installed at the corner of the busy Montowese/Main streets intersection in downtown.

At the most recent Board of Police Commissioners meeting, the commission voted unanimously to adopt the recommendation of its Traffic Commission to investigate finding funding to add a sound signal to the existing pedestrian signal at the corner.

Commissioners said part of their reasoning is that a blind person lives near the area and would be better able to safely cross the street if sound was added to the signal.
