Branford Police Department Earns Full Accreditation From CT Police Officers Standards and Training Council

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Police Department shared the news that it has "achieved all three Tiers of State Accreditation through the Connecticut Police Officers Standards and Training Council."
"We are very proud of the work of our Manager of Crime Research, Police Accreditation & Special Projects, Michael Smith, who accepted this Accreditation Award this week at POSTC.," police wrote on Facebook.

Per the police department, "Tier III is the highest level of accreditation a police department can achieve in Connecticut. This distinction recognizes our commitment to excellence, accountability, and community trust."
"It means that our policies, procedures, and practices meet the most rigorous professional standards in law enforcement," police wrote, noting it has now completed Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III standards of compliance.

"Accreditation ensures that we are operating with integrity, transparency, and a continued focus on keeping Branford safe," police said. "It reflects our dedication to providing professional police services while building strong relationships with the residents we serve."
The department thanked its "officers, staff, and community for their support in helping us reach this milestone. Together, we will continue to move forward with pride and professionalism."
