Branford Resident, 41, Among 4 Injured In 4 New Haven Shootings: NHPD

NEW HAVEN, CT — Late Saturday night, a gunshot victim from Branford was driven in a private car to the hospital. That person was among the four people shot in four separate incidents in New Haven over the weekend, police said.

It all began around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Milford cops called New Haven cops to advise a gunshot victim was at a hospital in their city. The victim, a 35-year-old West Haven man told cops he was shot on Elm Street in New Haven and then taken in a private vehicle to a Milford hospital.

New Haven police said the man was then taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment, where, police said, his wounds were deemed non-life-threatening by hospital staff. In a post to "X" police said they found ballistic evidence in the area of Elm Street and Winthrop Avenue.

Two hours later, cops got a Shotspotter activation in the area of Edgewood Avenue and Garden Street, where a two truck driver said he was "attempting to tow a vehicle when someone started to shoot at him." Moments later, a 911 call came in from a Garden Street resident who said "a bullet came through the door and struck a woman in the face." The 35-year-old New Haven resident was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment, where her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, police said. Cops said they found ballistic evidence in the area.

Five hours after that shooting report, just before 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Yale ER for a report of a gunshot victim having been dropped off by a private vehicle. The victim, a 41-year-old Branford resident, was also deemed to have non-life-threatening injuries. In this case, cops could not locate a crime scene.

Six hours later, on Sunday at 4:30 a.m., officers were called to the pediatric emergency department at Yale for the report of a juvenile female suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Her wounds were determined to be non-life-threatening, and officers were able to locate a crime scene, police said.
