Downed Wires Close Road In Branford: Police

BRANFORD, CT — Downed wires have closed a road in Branford, according to police.

Police are advising motorists that Thimble Island Road is closed between Three Elms and Wallace Road due to live wires down.

Buena Vista is also closed, according to police.

Police are advising residents to avoid the area.

The Branford fire and police departments are at the scene, and Eversource has been notified, according to police.

"In addition, Rte 146 (Leetes Island Rd.) Is closed in both directions in the area of Medlyn Farm," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "State DOT has been contacted to remove the tree. Residents are urged to find alternate routes and avoid the area."
