Esther (Langella) DePonte obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Esther “Pasqualina” (Langella) DePonte, 98, of Branford, formerly of East Haven, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 26, 2025. A daughter of the late Antonio and Caroline (Veleccia) Langella, she was the devoted wife of the late Fred DePonte for 65 years.
She was also predeceased by her brothers Antonio Jr. and Domenic and sisters Philomena, Angelina, Mary, Regina, Rose, Olympia, Josephine and Nancy and a daughter-in-law Patricia Bone DePonte.
A stay-at home mother all her life, Esther was the ultimate cook, making many memorable meals and baking many Italian-heritage delicacies and specialty cakes and pies that her family and friends always relished.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her children; Joseph (Kathleen) DePonte of Branford, David (Lisa) DePonte of South Carolina,(formerly of North Branford), Maria DePonte (partner Dr. Sharon Arrol) of Branford, and Peter (Catherine) DePonte of Southington; a brother-in-law Dr. Ralph J. (Margo) DePonte of Rhode Island, as well as grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) DePonte-Washburn, Daniel (Megan), Joshua (Jessie), Sarah, Steven (Brittany), Amanda, and Dr. Rachel DePonte; six great-grandchildren, Max, Molly, Mason, John, Henry, and Benjamin DePonte, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus for their tireless effort and Masonicare for their quality end-of-life care.

Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday September 2, 2025 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Please go directly to the church on Tuesday. All services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, (Clancy Funeral Home). 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
