So, I've been thinking lately. Uh oh. Has anything good ever come from those words? Maybe.
I've been hounding Branford Town Hall for years about making our roads a little safer. We live on a busy and popular street in town. Think Daytona 500. We have to back out of our driveway at 60 mph! We look down the street- nothing. 2 milliseconds later, a septic truck is taking up my whole rearview mirror.
I've gotten use to it but I take extra time and care when our Granddaughter is in the backseat. Or the boss is sitting next to me. Sometimes I give a wave of thanks for not sending us to to the hospital covered in well....... it rhymes with hit.

Ok, now where was I? Oh yeah, road safety. A few suggestions:
1. Speed humps everywhere! Police can use their time for the bad guys.

2. More enforcement of traffic laws and steep fines for crazy behavior. You've seen all the burn outs on our roads lately.
3. Get control of the Moped craze. These are usually cheap, unsafe, unregistered and uninsured pieces of junk that ride right in the middle of the road. Remember- Moped is short for motor or peddle bikes. I don't see any actual mopeds anymore.
4. Ditto for E-Bikes!! E-Scooters. Wow- we are getting too lazy!
5. Double ditto for the guy that rides the E-unicycle. At 35mph. In the middle of the road.
6. Close Main St by the Green to vehicles. Make it CT's first town that encourages more walking, riding bikes (no mopeds!) and....... are you ready for this? Golf carts!!!! Anyone living south of Main St should be able to legally operate a golf cart. Why does Pine Orchard get to use carts and no one else? Hmmmmm
I think it's way past time that Branford moves to keep us safer on the roads, sidewalks and pedestrian cross walks. I encourage everyone to contact Town Hall at 203-315-4713
